Our Garden is Growing like Crazy!

In spite of the drought we're in, and the minimal watering I'm doing, our garden is so beautifully green! Here are some progressive pictures:

Our first little harvest - 1/2 ounce of lettuce.  We've since picked 18 more ounces.

Can't wait to taste this little guy!  :)

Some crafting...

My niece is almost ready to graduate from college. She is going to be an early elementary school teacher. So, I made her some blocks to use in her classroom (if she so chooses). They spell out the 4 seasons. I hope she likes them.

One day, I was antsy to do something with Mod Podge. I found an old mousepad that came with a computer, once, that we never use. So...I took the mousepad, and went to town repurposing it:

Little Easter Craft

I apologize - I cannot find the blog and post that gave me the idea to do this. But, I thought this was sooooooo cute! I'm not any kind of artist, but somehow, I managed to draw a bunny on a brown shopping bag and cut it out. Then, Isabella decorated it, and hung it in her room:

I thought, between the two of us, we did pretty well!

Foam "Floral" Tree

I made this little "tree" for Isabella's room.  I want to find and make things that are a little more "Big Girl" for her room.  I got this idea after seeing so many spring wreaths on different blogs.  I had bought the foam tree at Goodwill for practically nothing, for an Easter project that I never got around to making.  I raided my fabric stash and found straight pins I didn't even know I had.
Isabella loved watching me work on it.  And is thrilled to have it on her dresser.

Long time...

I'm really the worst blogger!  It's not that I haven't had things I wanted to post.  It's not even really that I didn't have time.  Well, maybe that's part of it.  I did get busy with some digital scrapbooking, which I hadn't done in a few months.  But, I've done a few craft projects and the garden has gone insane!
It's so hot, here in central Texas, already.  WAY too early to be this hot, and lately so muggy, too.  That never helps me be productive, as I only want to sit on the couch, under the ceiling fan (yes, we have A/C, but hubby is appalled at our power bill, so the A/C stays off until shortly before Izzy's bedtime...and then only for an hour or two, to make sure she's comfortable while she falls asleep).  Tomorrow, it could get as high as 98!  YIKES!  When did we jump ahead to July?

I have some miscellaneous photos from the last month to share (I'll do garden pictures as a separate post):
Isabella, admiring a turtle at her favorite place - Cabela's.

A bulletin board I set up for Isabella and I to use for Letter and Number of the week, Day, Month & Date, and Weather. She loves helping me change it out...especially the weather.

I found a frame at a local thrift store!  I was looking for one like this.  We're hoping to paint Izzy's room this summer.  So my plan is to paint this frame in a complimentary color, and paint chalkboard paint on the wall that will be behind this frame.  Then she can have ever changing art on her wall.

Well, blogger is giving me some issues, tonight, with posting pictures.  So I'll jump on, again, soon and post some more.  I have 3 different crafts that I did, that I thought turned out kind of cute.  So wanted to show them.
In the meantime, I hope your week starts off well!

Busy Day

Last night, I made a tutu for Isabella. I found the directions for it on No Time For Flashcards' post.  I bought all I thought I needed from Walmart.  Got frustrated because the ribbon roll was deceptively short.  But, I made it work.  I loved how it looked, and couldn't wait until Izzy saw it, this morning.
Cute, huh?  Well, once I tied it around Isabella, I realized I need more tulle.  It's more of a tutu apron, right now.  Ah, well....she LOVES it, so I'll wait before I run out and spend money I shouldn't really spend, right now on more tulle.
The beads Izzy's wearing are a purchase she made while we went to garage sales, this morning.  Normally, she doesn't like to go.  But, she's has a new passion for horses, and I told her we should look for My Little Ponies or horses to buy at garage sales.  She was eager to go, once she thought THAT was a good idea.  And she scored!  Along with 3 sets of beads, she came home with a Barbie (all of my old ones are falling apart, now that she's old enough to play with them), a My Little Pony, another little hard body horse, 3 pairs of shoes to grow into, a shirt, a dress, and....major score.....a stuffed horse.  I HAD made a vow no more stuffed animals.  But, she spotted it as we drove by a house, fell immediately in love with it, and it's been by her side the rest of the day (and night).
After we got home, we decided today was a good day to bake.  We started off with oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

Don't worry - Izzy can eat the cookie dough.  I used flax and water instead of eggs.  With this cookie, you can't taste the difference, and they don't go stale as quickly.  It's great! (and healthy)

After we made the cookies, I made homemade Wheat Thins.  I found the recipe on Two Peas and Their Pod's website.  I didn't make any changes, and after baking them, the only thing I'd add is pricking them with a fork before putting them in the oven.  I had some get an air bubble.  The best tasting ones were the ones without the air bubble.
Also, next time, I'd make sure they were a littl emore browned.  I was paranoid about burning them.
Here are some pictures of the process:

Oops...the wine isn't in the crackers.  The bottle was just there, awaiting me for after Izzy's bedtime relaxtion.
 Love our Silpats!
We don't have much counter space...had to share with the crockpot, which held our delicious dinner of BBQ pork steaks.

Used the pizza cutter we got from my parents' trip to Stockholm, South Dakota's anniversary celebration.  :)
 Ready for the oven...

Ready for my belly.  haha!

Well, I'm beat.  So...
